Jaclyn Jones

Jaclyn is a serial entrepreneur. Seeing a gap in the frozen treats market at the local community pool when she was just 8 years old, she and her best friend took their allowance money, invested in supplies and opened their first business. She’s never looked back. A proud member of a book club that doesn’t read books, but instead uses that as an excuse to drink wine and travel to Barcelona … for the weekend. Insists on stopping at all farmers markets and roadside vegetable stands to procure pounds of fresh produce … it often takes her six hours to get from the Collingwood office back to Burlington. Has an imaginary Admin Assistant by the name of John. And has brought the combined height of the Burlington office to a lofty nine feet.

Jaclyn has an H.BA from Wilfrid Laurier University and over twenty years’ experience in Marketing and Advertising Project and Program Management.

Allen Jones

El Supremo, The Head Honcho, The Big Guy… Leader of the Band. Carries an eye-glass case that would rival the most accomplished pack-rat. When Allen grows up, he aspires to be a professional ski bum who’ll goof off under the guise of overseeing the Collingwood office of Whiting & Holmes. Refers to highways as Autoroutes, because he still thinks in Montreal lingo. Will drive great distances to claim that he’s found the BEST ice cream or greatest free coffee.

Allen has a B.Comm, CAAP (Communications and Advertising Accredited Professional) and over 25 years’ experience in Marketing and Advertising. His extensive experience in the manufacturing, transportation, distribution and materials management, hospitality, travel and leisure, packaged goods and services sectors position him as a veteran in the industry.

Carol Jones

Keeper of the Faith. Carries the stature of silent partner at W&H, although both Allen and Jaclyn claim she rarely is. Expert health food store guru and connoisseur of disinfectant products. Is often forced to referee creative scraps between right and left-brain thinkers that populate the office. Refuses to reside in any office space that doesn’t conform to leading edge Feng Shui thinking.

Paul Fontyn

As the sole in-house Computer Geek, Paul manages to cope with the team’s technological ignorance by listening to “really loud and frightening music” (say the Account people) from the likes of Stone Sour, Iron Maiden and Five Finger Death Punch. Has the patience of a saint and frequently explains to the uninitiated that the internet isn’t “just a fad”. Having started skiing late in life, he now fancies himself as a ski god and regularly splurges on two pair of skis a season. Much to the dismay of “the wife”, who continues to ski on skis from the late 90’s.

Paul has a diploma from Loyalist College in Microcomputer Programming complimented by Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer status. Over the past seven years, he has helped craft solutions for a range of industries, including healthcare, government, education and finance, making him a valuable resource for clients who need expertise in professional web site programming and windows applications.

Creative Superheros and Official Right-Brain-Thinkers

Jon and Jenn

In a world of ordinary mortals (ie the Account people and Senior Management), enter … the creative heroes.

Jon’s greatest superpower? Height. Towering over the elf-like Account people, he reaches things in the “high cupboards” with ease and can change a lightbulb without having to get out tethering equipment. Like all great superheroes he must keep his power hidden. He does this by driving around in a black-as-night car so small that he must unfold his entire body to extract himself from the vehicle. When he’s not coming up with the next creative concept, he is visiting England to practice his English skills … despite English being the only language that he speaks.

Director and photographer by trade, with a BFA from UBC, Jon he has a passion for all things digital content, design, branding, copywriting and all things creative.

Jenn. Our daring designer. Master of all things beautiful. Too kind to tell the left-brained project team that their creative direction lacks actual-creativity. She retreats to her secret lair, emerging only once she has created stunning visuals that are EXACTLY what the team meant when they told her “their vision”. She has but one mantra … “with great power comes great responsibility … for ensuring that there is sufficient white space in all that we design.” A true heroine amongst us mortals … and also heroine to her pup Mango, without whom she would have no one to play Frisbee with.

Jennifer is an accomplished graphic designer who lives and breathes contemporary design. Working as an artist in her spare time, her artistic flare permeates whatever she works on, and her work ethic ensures that we are always on time.

Warrior of Digital Media Solutions

Michele Mauviel

Michele hasn’t always been Warrior of all things digital. She landed her first job out of College as a Marketing Coordinator Fitting Model, for a women’s clothing designer. Was fashion her true passion? No. She just happened to be the right size for the Fitting Model gig. Now out of the fashion world, she fuels her body with black coffee and takes mid-day dance breaks where the sounds of Santana’s intoxicating Latin beats and powerful percussion have the whole team swaying to the rhythm. Michele dreams of producing a film with her son one day. Perhaps a documentary of her life. Perhaps titled Black Magic Woman … which has a nice ring to it. From designing top performing websites and content management systems, e-commerce, API integration, custom software development and performance marketing … there isn’t anything the Warrior of Digital Media Solutions can’t do. Except get the rest of the team to understand how the cloud works … as we all stare up into the sky …

Sandy MacKay

Photo Guru Extraordinaire. Resides in a tiny hamlet where he runs the single stop sign at will. Finally sold the old Porsche, only to replace it with an aging grey pick-up. Thinks skiing on the weekend is for the great unwashed. Has photographed everything from high fashion to low riders, thus providing him with one simple mandate: shoot anything, anywhere. Once indulged his love for sawdust at a local woodworking shop, where due to his towering height of five foot seven, he was thought of as one of Santa’s elves.  Uses faraway Client-shoots as an opportunity to get out on “the motor-bike” often showing up in full leathers … to photo-shoots … in August.

Lisa De Pieri

Unbeknownst to Sir David Attenborough and Monsieur Jacques Cousteau, they somehow came together and created an illegitimate love child. Meet Lisa, lover of all things land and sea here on planet Earth, except for spiders. An auspicious beginning in the Canadian Armed Forces, Veteran Lisa completed a Uni degree in psychology and used her highly honed psych skills to commune with flocks of sheep as shepherdess in the Greek highlands. Peppered throughout her long career in the not-for-profit sector making money for worthy causes, Lisa continues to follow her passion for travel and adventure. Defcon 1 highlights to date include living on a sailboat for 2 years, sailing from Toronto to Venezuela, cycling pretty much anywhere, Arctic exploration, paddling the iconic Nahanni River and travelling to many other parts of the world to visit terrestrial and ocean friends. Lisa reports back to the mothership frequently, located in Italy, to practise her Italian, stretch her stomach beyond its capacity and relish in a culture that values napping for adults.

Fearless leader of fundraising programs and initiatives across sectors including: Health, Environment, Animal Welfare, Attractions, Education and Arts & Culture.

Carole Clarke, Office Administrator and Master Mixed Tape Maker

Old enough to still have a collection of killer mixed tapes from the 90’s, but young enough to still get asked for ID at the liquor store. Carole’s organizational skills know no bounds. Not only does she have the perfect playlist for every occasion, but she also is the only one in the office that truly understands Excel. A program that remains a mystery to most everyone else. She is the keeper of databases. Ruler of presentation decks. The master of special event coordination. Carole also manages the calendars of our teams, her three children, and her husband. If that weren’t enough, she is the area’s expert in the sale of Girl Guide cookies.

Carole has over 15 years’ experience as a Business Administrator, Project Coordinator and Customer Service Representative. She has worked with National and Multinational QSR’s, Food Distribution companies and Human Resource Consulting firms.

She’s accomplished a lot in the two years she’s been with us. And her HR achievements are even more remarkable when one takes into account that she’s only awake for about two hours a day. Staff morale is up since her arrival, and everyone is feline good. This positive cattitude is due in large part to team building exercises like the daily window-hunting of feathered enemies in the backyard. By far the fanciest of the entire team, she has implemented grooming procedures for our team, and gives daily demonstrations during the lunch hour … most of us are still trying to figure out how to get our legs up and over our heads. She hides her disappointment in the bipeds well. Always on top of paperwork. Ready to pounce on new ideas. We’re not kitten when we say that we can’t imagine the workplace without her. It’s purrfect.
